Vocational students – TOT – day 2

Day 2 of our Training of Trainers in Laos with organisations offering vocational programmes to youth. Today, we calculated how much small business owners-managers can pay themselves, then we focused on managing personal money, with our flagship game, the budget game, played in two steps: first with a comfortable income, then with a very low income. Participants thus experienced the importance of savings when we earn an irregular income. Through good and bad ideas, we also discussed how to support family members in a sustainable way.

The second part of the day was dedicated to the key knowledge to set up a new business. We looked at customer and location, with a village map. Then, we experienced the wide gap in customers’ price preference. Finally, participants worked on the financial part of a business plan, listing, sorting out and estimating costs, then sales, profit… and finally the capital needed to start a business.
