Financial and Business Literacy TOT – GIZ Laos Luang Namtha – day 5

Today, participants to the Training the Trainers from GIZ’s local partners facilitated the Business Literacy module 1 in two villages: one near the Nam Ha National Bio-Diversity Conservation Area and one in the Vieng Phou Kha district (ເມືອງວຽງພູຄາ). Participants enjoyed the story (used as a case study throughout the session) and the bookkeeping game (nice to hear people talk and laugh while keeping records). The main points that villagers (all members of the village savings bank) said they learned and want to apply was noting down (but several, mostly men, said they already do) and keeping business and personal/family records and money separate, the only way to easily calculate if a business (or any trading activities) make a profit or a loss.
