From April 8 to 10, Enfants du Mekong’s social workers and trainers attended a training workshop to help them roll out a programme on money management for their scholars. Lenlen Mesina, our long-term partner Enrich’s advisor, facilitated these 3 days. The programme consists of four workshops – one per university year- where gradually students will learn how to control and plan expenses, and save, and be more considerate with the money that their very low income parents give them. As students become more independent in Year 3, we focus on food budgeting – which involves buying nutritious food. The Year 4 workshop focuses on how to manage a future salary – from NOT getting excited and spending it all as soon as received to managing expenses like rent and parents’ financial support. The team is 100% motivated to start rolling out the programme with their students in the centres throughout the Philippines.
